Our History

1846: Sunday School classes began in private homes.

1888: May 20, the cornerstone was laid.

1889: June 16, the building was dedicated as Falmouth United Brethren in Christ Church. The first Pastor was H. Dickson Lehman. 

1901: The church belfry and bell were added.

1928: A new roof was put in place.

1931: A hardwood floor and metal ceiling were installed.

1937: New pews, pulpit and a beautiful painting, “Christ in the Garden”, were added. June 13, a reopening service was held.

1946: The church was renamed the Evangelical United Brethren Church.

1951: Four classrooms and two enclosed rooms were completed.

1952-1956: A new roof, carpet and a Hammond electric organ were installed.

1968: Following a merger of the Evangelical United Brethren and Methodist denominations, we become Falmouth United Methodist Church.

1998:
A Fellowship Hall and kitchen were completed; this was made possible from a generous donation from the late Walter Hess.

2008: Fifty-one pastors have served and Rev. Joe Puckhaber is serving as our current pastor.
